Why am I ranting about this right now? Well this actually seems to be a very common theme that keeps popping up in new games. The developers are starting to push out unfinished games and just figure... meh we'll just put out some patches a week or two after the launch, they won't mind. They can live with a glitchy start, we already got the money out of them. I'm sorry, but fuck no it shouldn't work like that. Why is this acceptable now? Some one explain why this is acceptable in gaming now? To me, Arkham Origins felt a little rushed and unfinished, like they wanted to add more to it but just didn't have time (or worse going to make us pay for it in DLC later). It just doesn't feel as fluid as the previous Arkham games (yes I know it's made by a different developer! that doesn't excuse the high expectations from the previous awesomeness!)
I want to like this game, I really do. The story was pretty dang good (even though it was pretty predictable) but it was also pretty short if you just go from main mission to main mission (maybe 8-10 hours at most note: factor in every time I had to restart the console and redo a 30 minute boss fight). The gameplay is still fun even if the free flow combat feels just a little bit unresponsive sometimes (and cheap hits, can't forget those). I would recommend this game when (more than likely if) they get some needed patches to fix all these stupid technical issues that "magically" got passed testing (hint they didn't really look and probably didn't care....wanted to get the money from a well known and popular game....or focusing more on the multiplayer which I haven't even touched yet.) I really hate when developers move resources to multiplayer more than the single player story... ( I like the story better!) I miss the days when developers actually cared more about the game itself rather than be greedy about the money and cashing in (looking at you Activision!)
I should probably stop the rant here so I'll catch you guys next time. Feel free to comment on what you think on any of this. Later
